The Bristol Bay drainage and area rivers and streams are world famous
for their robust runs of all five species of salmon --- king, sockeye
(reds), pink, silvers and chum --- all of which spawn in the Wood River
system. The nearby Nushagak River is home to the largest run of Chinook
in Alaska and is considered by many to be the finest Chinook salmon fishery
in the world.

Native rainbow, grayling, arctic char, dolly varden and northern pike
thrive in many area lakes, rivers and creeks with fishing that's
"off the charts" excellent. The wildlife is equally as impressive
with moose, caribou and brown bear that can be seen throughout the park
system and lots of common small game like beaver, muskrat, otter, fox,
wolverine, mink and porcupine that inhabit the area. Marmots and squirrels
are abundant and make for great photo opportunities.
Of course, no trip to Alaska would be complete without a mention of our
staggering bird populations. Bald eagles are seen daily and frequently
right along with golden eagles. Arctic terns, loons, willow ptarmigans,
spruce grouse, gulls, sandpipers, plovers and a long list of other species
are also abundant.
In a word this country is impressive. The mountains
are majestic, the terrain’s rugged, and the people are warm and
inviting. There are meadows filled with wildflowers, old trapper cabins,
gin-clear creeks and ponds, and pristine habitat that extends in every
direction. Right in the middle of it all is a lodge that is as inviting
as you will ever find. This is the Alaska that people dream about.
